Vitality Expo 2019

The power of meditation, child-friendly fitness and moving to a more sustainable lifestyle were the top topics at Vitality, Ireland’s largest health and wellbeing festival which took place at the RDS Simmonscourt on 28-29 September.

The two-day event featured a range of talks, cooking demonstrations and fitness classes across four stages as well as over 150 exhibitors, showcasing the latest products and innovations from the natural health and wellness sector including supplements, beauty products and make-up, eco cleaning, honey, fermented foods, sheep’s cheese, a massage station and eco toys for the little ones to enjoy.

Highlights from the event included mindfulness coaching clinics by Alison Canavan and nourishing plant-based recipes by Holly White and chef and cookbook author Oliver McCabe.

Health Stores Ireland had a prominent stand displaying Rude Health magazine and the campaign to prevent VAT being put on products.

Irish health stores get the nod of approval

Ireland’s independent health food retailers celebrated in style as the Health Stores Ireland/Better Retailing Magazine Retailer Awards were presented in five categories during Vitality Expo in Dublin (28-29 September 2019).

The top five health stores were named as Here’s Health, Cork (Innovation and Business Development); Blásta Wholefoods, Dungarvan (Community Engagement); Evergreen, Galway (Training & Education); The Aloe Tree, Ennistymon (Environmental Initiatives); and Organico, Bantry (Digital Marketing).

Special Commendations in each category went to Food For Life, Kilkenny, and Health Matters, Dublin and Wicklow (Innovation & Business Development); Fruit ‘N Nut Place, Portlaoise, and Only Natural, Wexford (Community Engagement); Simple Simon’s, Donegal and Solero Viva, Tipperary (Training & Education); Loop de Loop, Castletownbere and Healing Harvest, Kinvara (Environmental Initiatives); Horan’s, Tralee and Evergreen, Galway (Digital Marketing).

The awards were presented by key industry figures including author Dr Marilyn Glenville, Institute for Optimum Nutrition founder Patrick Holford and Dr Rob Verkerk of the Alliance for Natural Health.

Special Recognition for services to retail was given to Matt Ronan, Spokesperson for the VAT Campaign in Ireland.
