Horan's healthstore in Manor West Shopping Centre in Tralee, Co Kerry

This issue store manager Deirdre Murphy and wellness consultants Delia Begley, Maria Pietraszko, Katie Falvey, Laura Moriarty and Amy O'Connor review a protein powder, cider vinegar tablets, joint support and dandelion tea

1. NATURAL FACIAL SERUM

Deirdre says: “I started using Kinvara Facial Serum three months ago and I am amazed at the difference. My skin is much more hydrated and my complexion is brighter. I apply the serum at night and I am loving the results.”

2. GUT HEALTH

Maria says: “I'm a big fan of Salus Gallexier for improved digestion, helping with symptoms such as bloating, heartburn and indigestion. It's packed full of bitter herbs which help to stimulate the digestive system. Take 20ml twice daily before or after a meal.”

3. PROTEIN POWDER

Laura says: “As a vegetarian I am always conscious of my protein intake and the importance of getting enough on a daily basis. I am a big fan of the Plantforce range of protein powders. Delicious on its own, or for an added treat mix with unsweetened almond milk and add a fist full of frozen berries. Delicious!”

4. DANDELION TEA

Amy says: “As someone who is prone to fluid retention, especially around my stomach area, I recently started to have one cup of Yogi Detox Dandelion Tea in the evening. I have really noticed a difference and wouldn't be without it now.”

5. JOINT SUPPORT

Deirdre says: “I walk 5k most evenings after work and my knees can act up and become painful. I take ZinCuFlex and it makes a real difference. It helps reduce the inflammation which is causing pain and also helps with any joint stiffness and improves mobility. I highly recommend it.”

6. CIDER VINEGAR

Katie says: “I am prone to a sweet tooth (and not a lot of willpower) so I take New Nordic Apple Cider Vinegar Mega Tablets. The added chromium and artichoke really take the edge off my cravings and make it a lot easier to get through the day without reaching for a sugar fix. I am also less bloated. I take one tablet after breakfast.”

7. IMMUNE SUPPORT

Delia says: “Dr Wolz Immunokomplex is a tried and tested immune tonic with fantastic feedback from customers. Recommended for anyone rebuilding their immune system.”

The Health Store in the Liffey Valley Centre, Dublin

This issue manager Jennifer Tutty, deputy manager Ella Gelatanu and product advisors Joan Thompson, Caroline Fitzpatrick, Synolda Byrne and Magda Lyskiewicz review a body wash, vitamin D spray, ashwagandha tonic and hair and skin booster.

1. ACTIVE DRINK

Ella says: “Zest Active is a great tasting powder that you mix up in water. Which is great for energy and also in helping to build up the immune system.”

2. HAIR AND SKIN BOOSTER

Joan says: “GNC Hair Skin Nails does what it says on the label. Along with the regular vitamins and minerals you get in these type of products, this one has high levels of biotin for nail strength.”

3. OIL BLEND

Caroline says: “Udo's Oil is a perfect way for vegans to get their all-important fatty acids. Take off the spoon, pour onto salads or put in yoghurts. Just don't fry with it.”

4. ASHWAGANDHA TONIC

Jennifer says: “I love Wild Nutrition Food Grown KSM-66 Ashwagandha Plus. Ashwagandha is having a bit of a moment – it helps with energy levels and stress. It's great for both men and women, supporting female hormone health and testosterone levels in men.”

5. BODY WASH

Synolda says: “Trilogy Botanical Body Wash gives a fresh smelling, all round feeling of being completely clean when you step out of the shower.”

6. VITAMIN D SPRAY

Magda says: “I like One Nutrition Vitamin D3-Max spray. Everyone could do with additional vitamin D in the wintertime, with less sun and more stresses on the immune system. This spray, which tastes great, is an easy way to top up.”
