The seasons they are a-changing

There’s no hiding from the changing seasons. This time of year sees evening walks getting chillier as fallen leaves are trampled underfoot and the smell of newly lit fires fills the nostrils. Energy levels can feel depleted as we head into darker days, so it’s a good thing your latest issue of Rude Health magazine contains insights on natural energy boosters to help get you through the challenging winter period. Gut health, brain health and the role of antioxidants are just some of the other topics covered in these pages as well as in your local health store, where well-trained staff are always on hand to guide you through any questions or queries you may have.

Lots of us retailers met up and shared ideas at the Wholefoods Wholesale Open Day recently, with plenty of exciting new products represented and a good feeling of how vibrant our industry is. Thanks for having us, Wholefoods!

This time of year sees special attention paid to immune boosters as there always seems to be something “going around”. Also surging in popularity for our members over this period are those winter flavours like cinnamon, clove, sage, orange peel and dried fruit. Of course, it’s not just supplements and food that you’ll find on our shelves. Health Stores Ireland members will always stock top quality natural beauty products and gift sets, and we are always keen to champion local artisanal producers. Shopping with your local independent health store helps keep our economy going, with a study last year suggesting that every €1 spent on locally sourced goods can generate up to €4 of additional wealth in the community.
